Post Mid-Term Stress

You can feel it in the air and see it on the faces of students. Pressure is building and many are starting to get worried about their grades. More than a few are thinking, "should I drop?"

This isn't spring fever. The week after mid-term exams always brings a change in the campus climate. Things are getting serious. Your test results weren't good. Stay or drop? Pass or fail? Which will it be?

I assume you're attending every class and actually doing the work - otherwise, you have more than a few barriers in your path...

Bad grades are never good, but withdrawing can also be a bad thing in certain circumstances which could effect your financial aid. If you have a question about your aid, call 556-1000 to discuss your academic progress and see if your aid will be altered by dropping or by receiving an 'F'. You need to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 to receive financial aid.

Before bailing out it is always a good idea to visit the UC Clermont Learning Center in Educational Services - room 100: http://www.ucclermont.edu/TLC/default.html The Learning Center has student 'peer' tutors and a professional staff that can help you with any and every class offered at UC Clermont. They can review and 'proof read' your papers or help you understand a complex math concept. Whatever the case, they are a great resource that can help you survive and actually thrive in the classroom!

Another great resource: your professors! Don't drop until you've spoken with your prof to see what suggestions they have concerning your work, potential extra projects, and your specific situation. You might be surprised how willing many will be to help if you show some interest in and initiative. Really!

Don't bail until you try, with help, to complete your classes with passing grades.
